Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about laser tattoo removal, including healing, aftercare, pain, treatment times, pricing and what to expect before, during and after your appointment.
How Laser Tattoo Removal Works
Laser tattoo removal works by breaking down ink particles in the skin, allowing your body to gradually remove them over time.
Our advanced laser targets tattoo ink while minimising damage to the surrounding skin. The ink is gradually shattered into smaller particles, which your body clears between sessions. Because this process takes time, multiple treatments are needed to achieve the best results.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Every tattoo is different.
Factors such as ink colour, tattoo age, depth, location, skin type, and your body's response all affect the number of treatments required. Most clients need multiple sessions to achieve significant fading or complete removal.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.
Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, and discomfort can vary depending on the tattoo's location and your individual pain tolerance. Treatment sessions are usually very quick, with many lasting only a few minutes.
If you're concerned about discomfort, numbing cream is available to purchase for an additional fee. As it generally takes around 60 minutes to become effective, it must be purchased before your appointment so it can be applied in accordance with the instructions before you arrive.
If you already have your own numbing cream, you're welcome to use that instead. Please ensure it has been applied according to the product instructions so it has taken effect before you arrive for your appointment. Just let us know when you check in that you've used numbing cream.
If you would like to purchase numbing cream through us, please let us know when booking so we can arrange it for you.

How Long Do I Need To Wait Between Treatments?
To achieve the best results, treatments are typically spaced 6–8 weeks apart.
This allows your body time to break down and remove the shattered ink particles between sessions.

Can All Tattoo Colours Be Removed?
Most tattoo colours can be treated with modern laser technology.
Black ink typically responds the fastest, while colours such as green, blue, purple, and yellow may require additional treatments.

Will My Tattoo Completely Disappear?
Many tattoos can be completely removed, while others may leave a faint "ghost image" or slight pigment change.
Results depend on factors such as ink type, depth, colour, age, and your body's healing response.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?
Immediately after treatment, the area may appear white or frosted.
Redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, and occasional blistering are normal and usually settle within several days.

How Should I Care For The Area After Treatment?
Keep the area clean and moisturised.
Follow the aftercare instructions provided at your appointment. Avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the treated area and protect it from sun exposure during healing.

Are There Medications That Prevent Treatment?
Some medications can increase light sensitivity or affect healing.
Please advise us if you are taking:
-
Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) or have used it within the last 6–12 months.
-
Certain antibiotics (particularly doxycycline or tetracycline).
-
Some acne medications.
-
Certain anti-inflammatory medications.
-
Photosensitising medications.
Always tell us about any medications before treatment so we can assess whether laser tattoo removal is suitable for you.

Can I Have Treatment If I Am Tanned?
No.
Recently tanned skin increases the risk of pigmentation changes and adverse reactions.
The treatment area should be free from recent sun exposure and fake tan before treatment.

Will Laser Tattoo Removal Leave A Scar?
Laser tattoo removal is designed to target tattoo ink rather than the surrounding skin.
Existing scarring within the tattoo may become more visible as the ink fades. Following aftercare instructions helps minimise the risk of complications.
Can You Treat Cosmetic Tattoos?
.png)
Yes, many cosmetic tattoos can be treated.
However, cosmetic inks can sometimes react differently to traditional tattoo inks and require careful assessment during consultation.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal Safe?
Yes.
When performed by trained professionals using medical-grade laser technology, laser tattoo removal is considered very safe. During your consultation, we assess your skin, tattoo and medical history to ensure treatment is suitable for you.

Can I Exercise After Laser Tattoo Removal?
It is best to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24–48 hours after treatment.
Exercise increases body temperature, blood flow and sweating, which can irritate the treated area and slow the initial healing process. Gentle walking is generally fine, but avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, friction or pressure on the treated skin until it has settled.
After this initial period, most people can gradually return to their normal exercise routine. If your tattoo is in an area that experiences significant rubbing during exercise, you may need to wait a little longer.
